The gap between knowing instructional design and building with it is where most L&D work stalls. I close that gap.
I’m Jason Boursier, an instructional designer and AI developer working at the intersection of learning science and applied technology. My work is grounded in the frameworks that produce real performance outcomes — Gilbert’s Behavior Engineering Model, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels, ADDIE — and executed with the tools that make those frameworks scale.
Over the course of my career I’ve designed and delivered training across sales, customer service, leadership, and technical skill development. I’ve worked in environments where learning had to produce measurable results fast — where a well-designed job aid or a well-run coaching conversation had a direct line to revenue, retention, or safety. That context shaped how I think about learning design: start with the business problem, build toward the behavior change, measure what actually moves the needle.
What’s different about my practice now is what I can build.
I develop production AI tools that encode instructional design expertise into working systems — a structured needs analysis engine, a training content generator that produces complete development packages from raw source material, and a performance coaching simulator that uses scenario-based practice and Socratic coaching to drive on-the-job transfer. These tools are live, functional, and available at https://blueedgewater.com/ai-tools-gallery/. They represent what I believe the next generation of L&D practice looks like: theory-grounded, AI-accelerated, and tied to outcomes a CLO can defend in a business review.
I hold a Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University.
Let’s talk about your learning challenge.
If your organization is wrestling with a performance gap, a training program that isn’t transferring to the job, or a question about what AI-powered learning design could actually look like in practice — I’d like to hear about it.Jason Boursier
