Welcome to Boat, Brain and Beyond: Sailor’s Mindset Podcast

VLOG and Introduction
Mission Statement
My creative new educational podcast is a fresh take on the oldest form of travel. My interviewing and technologically advanced method using AI Captains uses sailing as a metaphorical framework to explore and teach concepts like adaptive leadership, emotional intelligence, cognitive flexibility, situational awareness, and collaboration. Hope you are ready for a learning adventure!
Each episode draws from real and reimagined maritime experiences including: interviews with legendary sailors, modern adventurers, and even AI-embodied voices from history. My modern strategy uses the power of AI and offers timeless insights for navigating today’s world.
Whether you’re facing workplace stress, personal uncertainty, or cultural turbulence, Boat, Brain, and Beyond: A Sailor’s Mindset invites you to develop the skills seasoned sailors have and that means being steady, present, responsive, and resilient in all conditions. Tune in, and take your brain beyond what you know to be possible.
Sincerely from the Docks of the Columbia River in Portland, Oregon.

Episode 1: Captain Metahelm and Captain Boursier

A Mission to Help Chart Your Course
This podcast rips the sail off traditional leadership talk and dives straight into the storm.
Boat, Brain, and Beyond uses the raw, unpredictable nature of sailing as a metaphorical—and sometimes literal—framework to explore what it really takes to lead, adapt, and stay calm when everything goes sideways.
We’re talking adaptive leadership, emotional intelligence, cognitive flexibility, situational awareness, and real collaboration—not the buzzword stuff, but the kind that gets built when the wind howls and the map runs out.
If you’re steering through chaos—at work, in life, or within yourself—this show’s your compass.
About & Bio
Jason Boursier isn’t just another voice behind a mic—he’s a sailor, educator, and restless seeker who’s traded smooth scripts for saltwater truths.
With one hand on the wheel and the other in the world of AI, he teams up with his digital first mate, Captain Meta-Helm, to drag big ideas out of the fog and into the light.
This isn’t about polished self-help. It’s about learning to lead when the sails rip, the compass spins, and all you’ve got is your gut.
Welcome to the intersection of wind, wisdom, and whatever comes next.

Why This Podcast Matters
Because life has narrows. Tight passages. Rogue waves. And when things go sideways, you don’t need clichés—you need a steady damn helm.
This isn’t just storytelling. It’s survival wisdom. Leadership training. Soul work disguised as sea talk.
Each episode drags real lessons from the deep—showing how time on the water can teach us to lead with clarity, courage, and compassion when the pressure’s on.
Because the world is shifting—and you need your bearings sharp.

My goal? To cut through the noise with something real.
I use raw, lived sailing experiences—mine and others—as both metaphor and muscle to teach the skills that actually matter: adaptive leadership, emotional intelligence, systems thinking, and the kind of resilience that doesn’t flinch when it hits the fan.
Because life isn’t a calm harbor. It’s a series of storms, tight turns, and moments where you either lead—or get swallowed.
Inside you, do you contain a sea story that has changed you?
Drop anchor with and share it. Fill out the short form below and tell us what the ocean taught you. If it hits the right depth, we’ll reach out to bring your voice aboard.
The helm’s open. Step up and let’s take the tiller together.
Stay Tuned to Grow and Learn
- Harrowing Stories of Growth and Rebirth with questions including, “What were your daily rituals or non-negotiables out there? How did you prime your mindset each day, and would you bring any of those routines back into land life?” and, “Describe the first morning you woke up surrounded by nothing but sand, sea, and sky. What did it feel like in your body? What did it quiet—or awaken?”
- Life-Changing Moments at Sea with questions like, “Every sailor remembers a moment where they lost control—and had to choose how to respond. What was yours, and what did it teach you about composure?” and, “What do you want the world to know about the kind of courage it takes to choose the water, when land feels safer?”
- Also, hard hitting questions for instance, “Was this voyage an act of discovery or an act of healing? What were you looking for across those miles of sea?” and, “What was the hardest part of the voyage—not logistically, but internally? And how did you train your mind to meet the magnitude of it?”

Future Episodes Focused on A Sailor’s Mindset
- Including deep questions surrounding emotional intelligence like, “Did you encounter moments of sacredness on the ocean? Something that felt bigger than you, maybe even divine?” and, “Spending that long in constant motion and deep reflection—what truths rose to the surface about who you are and what you value now?”
- Reflective questions for world travelers and captains that are enriching and encapsulating, “If you could speak to the version of you still standing on that Virginia dock, what wisdom would you pass down the line through time?” and, “When the ocean taught you something, how did you know it wasn’t just wind or wave—but a lesson meant for you?”
- Let’s not forget even deeper thought about travel and growth with questions in the vein of, “What were you running toward, and what were you running from on this trip? Did Baja strip away the noise enough to hear the honest answer?” and, “Did you ever feel like something sacred happened out there—a moment of awe or insight that reconnected you to something bigger than yourself?”
“Listening to Boat, Brain, and Beyond made me realize that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about staying calm when everything is uncertain. The sailing stories make the lessons stick in a way that’s real, not theoretical. I’ve started thinking differently about how I show up for my team at work, and myself.”
